Te Whakapāha a Te Karauna Crown Apology

The Crown apology is a fundamental part of the Settlement for Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika.  The intent of the Crown Apology is to make it clear that the Crown unreservedly regrets and apologizes for those past actions and omissions that have affected the Treaty rights of Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika.  Through atoning in this way, the Crown indicated its desire to begin the healing process for the grievances suffered by Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika and to build a relationship of trust and cooperation with the claimant community.
