Puretumu Ahurea Cultural Redress

The cultural redress mechanisms provided for in the Deed of Settlement were designed to recognise the importance of specific sites and areas to Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika within the Port Nicholson Block.  On 2 September 2009 the following properties transferred to the ownership of the Trust:

Pipitea Marae

The fee simple title in the following properties was also transferred to the Trust on settlement date.  However each of the following will be managed under provisions of the Reserves Act 1977.  Joint management of these sites will be undertaken where the Trust will work with the appropriate central or local government authority (ie Greater Wellington Regional Council, Department of Conservation, Wellington City Council, Hutt City Council and Upper Hutt City Council)
